A few pics of my new place!

Here are a few pics of my apartment. I'm not totally unpacked yet, so I'll post more when everything is settled. I have a couple pics of my room (bed and dresser)...it's freezing here so I have a bunch of blankets. Plus a pic of my kitchen, a couple of my living room with the couch and entertainment center, and a pic of the empty second bedroom that has now become my suitcase room :-)

nice place! i can't wait till you get settled and you buy more stuff to add to your collection of beautiful things from the world to put up on your walls etc! love it! tile through the whole house? burrrr during the winter!!! but probably really nice during the summer! you have slippers so you don't freeze your toes off?
love you and miss you!

Yeah, the tile definitely makes it freezing this time of year! thank God for the slippers I brought! But yeah...it'll make it a lot better in the stifling summer months. I brought a bunch of china wall scrolls and some africa fabrics to put up on the white walls...but the walls are plaster so I need to figure out how to actually hang stuff (it's like putting a nail into concrete). Maybe that will be a project for when mom and dad come to visit :-) love ya sarah! miss you so much!

Your apartment looks cozy already! Did they provide blankets, or did you bring them? Sticky hooks seem to work well with the cement walls.

about the walls, yes that is what I was talking about, you need what is called a 'hilti' tool, if you can get one it will work well, if not maybe we can bring ours but we will need to find hilti nails to go in it, pick up a hammer though as you need one to use it too. we will help you when we get there if you have not solved it by then, maybe some one at work will have one!

Yup, I brought several blankets with me! And thank goodness considering how cold it has been! They actually did provide a big blanket for my bed, but I'm now using that on my couch during the evening while I read and watch tv.

And Mom, let's definitely work on the walls when you come! I'll ask around about a hilti tool. I also remember the lady that lives upstairs saying something about asking the building maintenance guy to help her. I want to double check first with the landlord to make sure that holes in the walls won't result in a fine. He's giving me a ride to work tomorrow so I'll try to ask him then.

Amy - love your place! It does look cozy! You could also try the 3m velcro wall strips to hang stuff too. They have all kinds that hold varying weights and work really well. They also come off the way without leaving any damage. Just a thought. :)
